CASE STUDY
One of our most recent clients is the London based firm DOMUS FACADES, a specialist in creating interior and exterior facades for buildings.

Their requirements were the following:
  • Create a video at 2-3 minutes length. No dialogue, just visuals.
  • Emphasize on the message “Domus Facades powered by Etem” as ETEM supplies the mounting mechanism for the facades, which Domus creates and supplies.
  • Shoot various footage at the Domus Facades Headquarters.
  • Find appropriate music which is not library music material.
  • Insert footage from a promotional video by ETEM.
  • All of this is done on a cost-effective budget with a quick turnaround.
With only one day of shooting, receipt of ETEM’s film material and the portfolio of photographs from DOMUS FACADES, we started editing. The work included some compositing and grading work and we finalized everything in a single week to meet the deadline. DOMUS then also used this video for playback at their annual open house event and the video is now part of their PR & Marketing Material and also available in our reels section.

Result:
DOMUS was so satisfied with the cost and effectiveness of that video that they’ve asked us to produce further promos and consult on their future website designs. Subsequently, the video also prompted interest by DOMUS FACADES’ sister company DOMUS TILES.

ISIS Papyrus is one of our longest lasting customers and have with every year increased the usage of videos on their website and during their conference sessions. Every year we cover all the presentations at their annual OPEN HOUSE event.

Their requirements were the following:
  • Over 2-3 days, film every presentation during the event.
  • ISIS need the videos immediately after the event for staff training.
  • The videos need to be in highest quality possible for their internal use as well as for their website.
  • Create smaller video files within one week of Open House, so they can be sent to ISIS' international sales offices.
  • Edit 20-30 presentations to much shorter versions for the ISIS website.

In order to achieve the fastest turnaround of the videos, the decision was made to edit and capture these videos live at the event. Two cameras and the projector feed were hooked into a live mixing desk which was hooked into a DVCPRO HD deck and a MacPro. By immediately capturing the videos we were able to deliver the videos to ISIS immediately. But the file sizes were too large to be sent to their international offices, so we encoded much smaller versions for them, which were sent by DVD or Download. Once the Open House events are finished for the year, each of the videos is then edited and posted on the ISIS website for their clients to review.

Result:
As long established customers of Iron Box Films, ISIS Papyrus has steadily increased their video needs and have requested the filming of presentations exclusive for the website. They have also asked Iron Box Films to consult on the creation of a custom Flash player termed VIDEO WALL for the ISIS website.

FILL THE VOID Records is an upstart record label which features many promising artists. Their flagship artist is a band called Slashed Seat Affair. They wanted a music video for their single "FORGET YOU"

Their requirements were the following:
  • Single day Music video shoot.
  • Requires creative visual idea based around a straight forward perormance video.
  • Create visual effects for the video.
  • Deliver within 30 days of commission.
  • Production has to stay within budget.

After careful consideration of the song, Bernhard the Director came up with the idea of hanging picture frames from the ceiling which would have footage of the band performing inside them. That would be done in post-production using VFX. The shoot finished on schedule and the post-production took 27 days.

Result:
The music video won an award for BEST MUSIC VIDEO at the EXPOSURE MUSIC AWARDS. The success also prompted them to commission a second music video from Iron Box Films.

One of our Raimund's earliest clients is Unilever for whom he co-produced and directed a European-wide distributed Health & Safety Video, which turned the guidelines and regulations into fictionalised and dramatised lessons.

Their requirements were the following:
  • Create a video of ca 10-15 minutes length.
  • Develop the script with shows what could happen if guidelines are ignored and how to avoid accidents by following the regulations.
  • Stage these messages visually e.g.driving without seatbelt.
  • Dubbing into other european languages including french, german & spanish
  • DVD authoring.
After pre-production of 2 weeks, which included casting, location scouting and securing, and finalising the script, the shoot took four days including nights. The different scenes were filmed in and around Leeds. The post-production took 2 weeks to finish, when Unilever came up with an additional idea. So after shooting additional scenes the final version of the Health & Safety video was dubbed into different languages and delivered onto DVD

Result:
After 4 days of shooting The work included some in-camera special fx and sound design. Shot on DV the video was in use as the training video for many years.

Business in the Community (BITC), a North London based Charity, is a regular client of ours. For their latest annual event, which many of the leading business leaders e.g. the chairman of Boots, attended, BITC decided to create an event video in order to highlight their work and show their involvement with different industries.

Their requirements were the following:
  • Create a video of 5 minutes length.
  • Interview 3 people within the space of 2 hours, who have clashing and overlapping schedules.
  • Change rooms and lighting from interviewee to interviewee.
  • Shoot cutaways of the interviewees at work with minimal lighting.
  • Create classic corporate motion graphics for the intro and animated titling for interviewees.
  • 1 week turnaround.
The video itself was filmed at the London headquarters of Boots on Oxford Street. After a very early 5am start in order to shoot the interviewees between 8am and 10am, we used the the different locations to enhance the look of the video. Overall the different cutaway sequences were later integrated into the final version by digital colour correction during post-production.

Result:

The video was received very well at BITC's annual event. It is now available on BITC's website. As intended and required the resulting product highlighted the work BITC does and the film generated a lot of interest and additional donations from the attending industry representatives.
